Offers and bidding rules

Draft for review by counsel.
Two ways to ask for a work
- "I want to buy this" on a work with a price: you ask to buy at the listed price. You can select several works in an exhibition and send one request.
- Bids on works the owner offers for bidding: each bid must be at least the starting bid, or one step above the highest bid. You see whether you are leading; other bidders are shown by number, never by name.
What the owner can do
The owner (or someone on their team with the Sales role, or the exhibiting artist in a group show) sees every offer and chooses which one to accept — usually the highest bid, but they may accept the offer that suits them (for example a buyer who can collect in person). Accepting an offer opens a private chat with that buyer. Offers that are set aside are not announced.
Timing
A bidding period may have a closing time. While payments on Interartive are off, the owner decides after the close; an accepted bid is not a completed sale until buyer and owner agree payment and delivery.
Withdrawing
You may withdraw an open offer before it is accepted. After acceptance, you are expected to complete the purchase; repeatedly walking away from accepted offers can lead to limits on your account.
Fairness
- No shill bidding: owners and their team cannot bid on works they sell, and accounts created to bid up prices are removed.
- New accounts can have only a few open offers at once, and offers require a confirmed email or mobile number.
- We may cancel offers that break these rules.
